About mangaka...

i'm not personally good at drawing. i can pretty much copy stuff off other drawings. provided they're very simple, and i can't colour because i'm too scared of ruining what i've drawn.

i love manga art. its unique and so different from western comics drawing style. its amazing how they bring out all those expressions. slight, complex expressions, expressions with depth, they're dramatic at times, subdued at others.

i can almost always guess the mangaka now after looking at a particular drawing style. its a lot of fun, and i have a few favourites.

i like Amano Akira's art style, he's the mangaka of Katekyo Hitman Reborn. That above is his version of Sanji from One Piece..an awesome manga by Oda  Eiichiro.

Ai Yazawa's works (Nana, Paradise Kiss, Gokinjo Monogatari..) have a lot of depth in them. her work Nana, incomplete for now, is one of the greatest i've read. its stayed with me and its something i can never forget. i appreciate manga which stay with me long after i've finished them. what makes a great manga for me is unforgettable characters, good storylines which aren't too dramatic, but realistic just the same, and yes, some humour. it doesn't have to be over the top humour, but life has a lot of funny, light moments, and if that's brought out well in a manga, it wins. Nana is a slice of life manga with some tragic parts, but it never loses its lightheartedness. that's what still attracts me to it, even though i'm practically scared of its more intense parts..hehe.

Bleach is one of my earlier manga..and i like its clean art. back then the only other shounen i'd read was naruto. so i still didn't know how much the art style could differ from one manga to another..i was very new to it all. bleach's artwork's evolved quite a bit since, and it remains one of the funnest manga i've read.

i want more than anything to go watch my favourite mangaka at work. and i'd love to draw myself. i try from time to time, but there isn't enough practice. i'll keep at it though! its a great way to connect to the characters i love.
Kubo Tite (Bleach) at work.

Konnichiwa!!

i'm new to blogging, and to be honest, i'm excited! i've known about blogging for very very long, but i never tried it. but now i feel like i want to share things here, and want to have fun!

about me.. i'm 24 year old, and i've just finished law school. it was a 5 year long course! that's a lot!! finally that's over with..phew.

MORE importantly, i'm a manga freak. i love manga, i was introduced to it about 5-6 years ago, and i've been addicted since. love for Japan was a byproduct of that. i've read over 200 manga (and manhua, manhwa), and still counting. yes i started keeping count..lol. i think its something weird, from the reactions that i get, about a 24 year old girl acting this way, but i just love it..and at this point i don't feel like i could ever live without it!!

i started with naruto, i was immediately addicted. then i read black cat..midori days..genshiken.. those were my first manga..

my favourite genre are shoujo, shounen..and everything has to have comedy. i like anything with a bit of humour..they're only a couple of exceptions to that, such as old boy or the flowers of evil. those are some intense serious manga i've read. lately i've been obsessed with anything to do with Hellsing. i loved it, i loved all the characters. it was brilliant. Alucard is epic.

i'll come back later.. yes its abrupt..but i need to have lunch.
until next time!
